A Path to Graduation for At-Risk Students

At Hoosier College and Career Academy (HCCA), we believe in the power of connection, consistency, and care. It is with these traits in mind that we walk alongside students in their academic journeys, no matter what they look like.

For some students, part of their path was changing the belief that they could graduate at all, thanks to our K12-powered virtual program that specializes in helping at-risk and credit-deficient students get back on track to earn their diplomas.

What are credit recovery courses?

Credit recovery courses help students who are behind on credits, whether from failing a class or dropping out. Many of these students have faced significant challenges at a young age that interrupted their education, and once they fall behind, catching up on past coursework while staying on track with current classes can feel overwhelming.

How do credit recovery courses help?

HCCA’s online credit recovery course:

  • Use new approaches to teach unlearned concepts.
  • Allow students to move past material they’ve already mastered.
  • Let students test out of the material they’ve already learned and focus strictly on what they need to learn to pass.

Because of this approach, students can often stay on top of their current classes while catching up. Or, they can take credit recovery courses during special summer sessions.

What makes HCCA different from other programs?

In some credit recovery programs, students complete modules entirely on their own. But HCCA’s K12-powered program is designed with built-in support. Courses are led by licensed teachers who deliver individualized instruction and offer consistent opportunities to connect via office hours.

This is our commitment to connection, consistency, and care: Even if students have fallen behind, they deserve the support of a teacher to follow them every step of the way, ensuring they recover credits and progress through subjects in a timely manner.

For many students, that level of individual support is the game-changer. It’s a reminder that they’re not alone. They have teachers who believe in them and are committed to helping them succeed.

What does HCCA’s credit recovery course look like?

  • Content is always available, so students can refer back to previous lessons.
  • There is pre-recorded audio and pre-teaching of vocabulary to prepare students for the content in each unit.
  • Content and tutorials are engaging and interactive to address hard-to-learn concepts.
  • Helpful assessments provide ample practice before students take exams.
  • There is also support for English language learners, who can have the text read aloud.

For students who have fallen behind or given up on finishing high school, there are options designed specifically for them. With the personalized support and flexibility of an online credit recovery program, they can graduate with their heads held high.  Learn more about enrolling with us today!
