This coming Saturday, September 12^th, Indiana’s Statewide Family Engagement Center presents the 2026 Indiana Family Engagement Summit! This free event invites families, educators, school leaders, and community partners to explore strategies to help students thrive. The summit will feature a keynote address from Wilisha Scafie, networking opportunities for educational leaders, and sessions where families may explore the various schools, organizations, and resources available to them to support their child’s education. Families will have the chance to ask questions, learn about practical family engagement strategies, discover local resources, and overall strengthen the family-school partnerships that lead to student success. 

The event is hosted by In*Source, a leading resource in Indiana aimed at helping ” parents of children with disabilities navigate the special education process.” According to their website, their goal is to “bridge the gap between schools and parents and [to] connect the dots that become the individual path to success for children with disabilities.” 

Families have the opportunity to participate in training events, benefit from resources aimed at intervention methods, and aiding students in self-advocacy, and educational videos. Schools may also benefit from gaining their Family Engagement Certification which recognizes schools for fostering strong school-to-community relationships. Over 70 schools have applied for certification, demonstrating their commitment to helping students and families feel supported in their educational endeavors.  

The Family Engagement Summit will function as both a virtual keynote address and regional in-person sessions that will allow families to interact face-to-face with the local organizations available for support. Meals, accommodations, and childcare are available for families interested.
