One Alumni’s story of how his HCCA experience fueled his future

At Hoosier College and Career Academy (HCCA), we take pride in the stories of our alumni who embody resilience, hard work, and success. Gabriel, a proud alumnus of HCCA (formerly Insight School of Indiana), recently shared his journey and heartfelt advice in a video message to inspire the graduating class. His story serves as a powerful reminder of the transformative potential of education and perseverance.

Finding the Right Place to Grow

Gabriel attended HCCA from 2017 to 2021, experiencing the highs and lows familiar to many students. He candidly recalls starting his freshman year with a C-grade average, but through determination, parental and teacher encouragement, and a pioneering spirit, he turned his grades around. By his senior year, Gabriel was excelling academically, earning recognition as the junior marshal for the Class of 2020 virtual graduation and graduating as the salutatorian of the Class of 2021.

Beyond academics, Gabriel embraced leadership opportunities, including serving as the student liaison for the school’s guidance program. His experiences at HCCA not only strengthened his academic foundation but also nurtured his passion for service and excellence.

One pivotal moment in Gabriel’s journey was taking a life skills elective at HCCA. This course ignited his interest in psychology and inspired him to explore the intricacies of human behavior. Today, Gabriel is pursuing his bachelor’s degree in psychology at Indiana State University, following the completion of his associate degree at Ivy Tech Community College.
