FAQs
Online School Technical FAQ’s
Does my student need to have access to a computer to attend?
Yes. However, qualified students may receive a loaner computer system (including desktop computer for grades 7–8, laptop for grades 9–12, printer, and software) to support the learning process. These computer systems are instructional property and must be returned when the student leaves the school. Each family will need to secure their own internet service provider. Families that qualify for a loaner computer may also qualify for a stipend to offset the cost of their internet service. This determination will take place during the enrollment process.
What computer skills are required?
The Learning Coach needs to have at least basic computer skills. Use of the computer is an important part of the online school program. Middle school and high school students are most successful if they have basic computer skills.
Does my student need high speed internet access to attend?
No. Although high-speed internet access definitely makes the experience of learning online much more satisfying, it is not absolutely necessary. Some geographic areas unfortunately do not have high-speed access available. However, for those areas that do, it is the preferred type of access for the program.
