Celebrating a New Way to Learn on National Online Learning Day

Stories & Spotlights
Online Learning Day

On National Online Learning Day on September 15, let’s celebrate some of the key reasons that virtual learning empowers students and its growing role in shaping the future of education! A recent survey by the National School Choice Awareness Foundation found that 60% of parents considered sending at least one of their kids to a new school last year, and 27% of those parents explored a full-time online option.

The value of personalized learning that adapts to children’s needs is highly appealing to parents and students alike. At Hoosier College and Career Academy (HCCA), we have seen the successes firsthand and are inspired by what the future of learning can be. Here are five ways that HCCA helps students succeed at online school.

1. Academic Support

HCCA takes the most successful aspects of traditional learning—live, regularly scheduled classes led by Indiana-licensed teachers—and combines them with a supportive and accepting virtual atmosphere that encourages academic and personal growth. Importantly, we offer a range of academic and school support services, and we design our curriculum to make learning fun through interactive games, videos, and hands-on activities that keep students engaged and supported.

2. Focus & Flexibility

Without the constraints of the one-size-fits-all traditional learning model, teachers are able to put flexibility and personalized learning at the center of their work. Whether a student needs to move at a different pace or would benefit from one-to-one instruction, online learning allows students to engage with instructors in the ways that work best for them.

At HCCA, we also offer a learning experience that adapts to individual families’ schedules and children’s learning styles. Whether your child needs more structure or greater independence, our Flex program provides the right balance of autonomy and support to help students thrive.

3. Safety

It’s critical that students feel safe at school, and research shows that a sense of safety supports stronger classroom engagement, academic achievement, and high school completion. It’s also associated with lower symptoms of anxiety and depression. For many families, online learning offers a haven—a place where students can learn from home and focus on their needs while still engaging meaningfully with teachers and peers. It can also offer a sense of safety for parents, too, who know their kids are comfortable and getting the most out of their education every day.

4. Access

At HCCA, we believe in fostering an environment where students from various backgrounds can come together to share ideas and perspectives. All students, regardless of learning style, level, or location,

deserve to have access to comprehensive learning experiences, and there’s no reason why it can’t be from home! Our teachers are trained to deliver engaging, interactive lessons using proven online technologies. We offer credit recovery courses to help students get back on track and Alternative Education Programs to support them in staying on track for graduation. Parents are also empowered to be part of their child’s education, partnering with teachers to support their academic progress.

5. Possibilities

Online learning prepares students for the future by immersing them in innovative technology and hands-on experiences. We’re dedicated to inspiring and empowering students through a personalized education experience that is as unique as they are. With a dedicated team of teachers and staff, we work closely with families to help each child achieve their academic goals and prepare for a bright future. From the Arduino Engineering Club and virtual field trips to dual enrollment opportunities and career prep courses, these opportunities inspire students to look toward the future with confidence in the possibilities that await them. We also offer a virtual campus called the HCCA K12 Zone to allow students to connect in a safe and welcoming environment.

Online learning impacted millions of students when they abruptly had to stay home. For many of them, they discovered that online learning was a better fit and could help them thrive in both school and beyond. National Online Learning Day reminds us that there is a place for every student, no matter how they learn. Looking to make the switch to online school? Learn more about HCCA today!
