Why Participating in Virtual Competitions and Field Trips Matters

One of the biggest questions families may have when choosing Hoosier College and Career Academy is: Will my child still have opportunities to socialize? The answer is yes—and one of the best ways to do it is by participating in virtual competitions and field trips.
These events bring students together across grade levels and even across the country. Whether it’s a national art contest, a robotics competition, or a cooking competition, these competitions encourage collaboration, creativity, and a sense of friendly rivalry. They also give students the chance to cheer each other on and celebrate achievements beyond the classroom.
Field trips—both virtual and in-person—are just as important. They offer students the chance to explore the world around them, connect learning to real life, and build friendships with classmates they might only know from the screen. Whether students are touring a museum online or meeting up for a hands-on activity in their community, these moments help make online learning more social, well-rounded, and fun.
K12 Virtual Field Trips bring the world to you through engaging and immersive online experiences. Designed to spark curiosity and enhance learning, our virtual field trips allow students to explore diverse environments, historical landmarks, cultural treasures, and more—all from the comfort of their homes or classrooms. This month, we have incredible field trips that include meeting an astronaut, touring a wildcat rescue, and visiting an animal sanctuary!
For online students, showing up and getting involved in these experiences can make all the difference—not just academically, but socially and emotionally, too.
We are thrilled to announce that one of our talented 12th grade students, Jackalynn, has been selected as a finalist in the prestigious 2025 K12 National Cook-Off! This incredible achievement highlights their impressive culinary skills and creativity. She competes tomorrow, June 6th, and we are so proud of her!
